Beyond India

Photography Workshop | September 26 – October 5, 2019

This ten days road trip workshop is designed to allow the participants to travel and work in small villages and towns and get a glimpse of less travelled routes in India.

We will begin our journey from Delhi and travel to Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala.  This town is the seat of the Tibetan Government in exile and the residence His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Here we will explore the mix of Himachalli and Tibetan culture as well as the impact of tourism from other parts of India.  The agenda is loose and we will help each participant create a theme and develop an idea through photographs.

Then, we will travel to the south: Tamil Nadu, where I was born.  We will stay in Pondicherry, a city by the sea and a former French colony.  We will take a day off to edit the work, discuss and unwind.  We will also make a day trip to visit local fishing hamlets, temples and the town.

The journey will wrap up in Delhi. We will stay for a night and spend the day exploring the capital city. This will include trips to historical monuments, a spice market and local restaurants.

Through this workshop I wish to share my experiences and journeys in India, the place where I was born and raised and which I left behind to live in many parts of the world.

First edition of this workshop is successfully completed. More information on second edition is to come soon.
